A cleared plot with a digger and a pile of removed waste ready for loading

Starting from a mess

The jobs we are most often asked about in and around Maidstone start with ground that has not been looked after: overgrown back gardens, a plot behind a garage, old outbuildings and piles of rubble left by somebody before. Before you can build anything you have to see the ground.

We clear it back to a clean, workable site and leave it ready for the next stage, whether that is a base, a patio, an extension or turf.

Clearance is also what we do for people who have bought a house or plot that has been empty. Send photos from the corners as well as the middle, because a pile of weeds can hide an old pond, a collapsed shed or a drain cover. Knowing what is under it before we start means a more accurate quote and no unpleasant surprises halfway through the day.

  • Vegetation, roots and stumps removed
  • Rubble and old hardstanding cleared
  • Old sheds and outbuildings taken down
  • Waste loaded and taken away
  • Excavation and levelling after clearance
  • Concrete bases once the ground is ready

Town, villages and bigger plots

Maidstone is a county town with Victorian terraces near the centre, a lot of suburban housing around Allington, Barming and Bearsted, and villages like Coxheath, Loose and Lenham with bigger plots and older cottages. Access varies: some have side passages, some have wide drives and a field gate.

That variety is why we have a range of machines. The 0.8T micro digger is for the narrow end, and a 3T or 5T machine for larger clearance.

If your plot has a long, rough track rather than a proper drive, say so in your message. A tracked dumper copes with soft or uneven ground far better than a wheeled vehicle, and it saves us carrying heavy loads by hand.

What turns up when you dig

Stone is quarried around Maidstone, and the area is known for Kentish ragstone, so it would not be a surprise to hit rock or large stone in places. In other places the ground is clay. We check what is there when we dig rather than assume, and we tell you if it changes the job.

Old plots also throw up buried rubble, roots, old foundations and the occasional concrete slab. That is what the hydraulic breaker is for.

How a Maidstone job runs

Photograph the plot from a couple of angles, add one of the access, and send it to WhatsApp with a rough size. We reply with a guide price, usually within 30 minutes during working hours, then check the site and confirm a fixed price. Waste removal is included in the quote.

Maidstone has the A20, the M20 and the A229 running through it, and parking on some streets is tight. If a skip or vehicle needs to go on the road, a council permit may be needed, and we will tell you.

Where else we work

We also cover West Malling, Aylesford, Snodland, Rochester and Chatham, and the rest of Kent and London.

Questions

Can you clear a very overgrown garden in Maidstone?

Yes. We remove vegetation, roots and stumps, clear any rubble and take all the waste away.

What happens to the old concrete and rubble?

We break it out with a hydraulic breaker where needed, load it and remove it. It is not left on site.

Do you do the base after the clearance?

Yes, if you want. We can clear, level and pour the base as one job, or leave the site ready for another trade.
