What we clear
Clearance is the first step before most groundworks. We deal with the things that stop you starting.
- Overgrown vegetation, brambles and scrub
- Roots and tree stumps
- Old rubble and builders' waste
- Old paths, slabs and hardstanding
- Fence panels, bricks and general garden debris
Roots and stumps
A stump looks small above ground and huge below it. Digging one out by hand can take a day. A mini digger lifts most of them out of the ground in minutes, which also removes the main roots that would otherwise push up a new slab or patio.
We remove roots and stumps where they sit in the way of the work. If a tree is large or protected, check first. Trees with a Tree Preservation Order, or in a conservation area, usually need consent from the council before being cut or removed.
Smaller shrubs and hedges are quicker still. We pull them out whole where we can, shake off the soil and load them straight away, so the ground is not left pitted and strewn with offcuts.
Rubble, old hardstanding and waste
Many gardens have a layer of buried rubble, an old path or a crumbling concrete patch under the weeds. We lift it with the machine, break out anything thick with the hydraulic breaker, and load it onto the dumper. Everything leaves site in one go.
Waste is loaded and taken away. If we find anything suspect, such as old asbestos cement sheets in a corner, we stop and tell you. We carry out asbestos checks before we start, but we do not remove asbestos ourselves.
Garden waste, soil, timber and rubble are sorted as they are loaded, which keeps disposal simple and tidy. If you want to keep anything, such as good bricks, stone or paving slabs for reuse, tell us before work starts and we will set them aside.
Handing over a clean site
We leave the ground ready for the next trade. If you are building a shed base, we can carry straight on and dig out for it. If you are laying turf or a patio, we can level and compact the area while we are there. Doing the clearance and groundworks together saves paying for a second visit.
Send photos of the ground, including the worst corners. We would rather see the thick bramble patch before quoting than find it on the day.
How we work through an overgrown site
We start by walking the plot with you and agreeing what stays: a good tree, a hedge, a section of lawn. Then the machine clears the big material first, and hand tools do the awkward corners next to fences, walls and drains.
Brambles and ivy are cleared along with their roots, since cutting growth back to ground level just means it returns by the next season. If the soil is going to be built on, paved or covered with turf, the roots matter.
Once the surface is clear, we check what is underneath. Buried rubble, old footings and soft pockets are better found now than half-way through a base pour.
Areas
We clear sites across London and Greater London and throughout Kent, including Croydon, Bromley, Bexley, Dartford, Sevenoaks, Maidstone and Canterbury. Builders and landscapers also use us to prepare plots. Send your postcode for a free quote.

Questions
Do you remove tree stumps?
Yes, where the digger can reach and lift them. Large or protected trees may need council consent first, so check that before any work.
Can you clear a very overgrown garden?
Yes. Send photos of the worst areas and the access. We use mini diggers and tracked dumpers where we can, and hand clearance where we cannot.
Is rubble and waste removal included?
Yes. All waste is loaded and taken away as part of the quote.
Can you level the ground after clearing it?
Yes. We can level, compact and prepare the area for a base, patio or turf in the same job.
